Rest here: http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2010/aug/08/iran-mohammad-mostafaei-rights-lawyer This is Islam for ya. Peaceful and tolerant.
From what I've read, Ebrahim Hamidi was sentenced to death when he was only 16 years old. The only "evidence" they have is the confession they tortured out of him. The person that falsely accused him has admitted that he lied, yet, he may be executed anyway. You can read more about his case at Pink News. I found a petition, and a site with an organized letter writing campaign for him. Change.org - Petition Godwyn's - Letter Writing Campaign
This, looking at the images, reminds me of The Crucible. Except that, you know, in the end people were fighting for the rights of the accused "witches".
according to our law no one will executed under 18 but if that person have a capital crime before this age would stay in jail till reach to 18 then execute. it's Islam law that homosexuality for men has dead penalty. I don't know real story of Ebrahim Hamidi but rarely did I hear execution for homosexuals in Iran.
In regards to executions in Iran for homosexuality, not sure how accurate Wikipedia is, but it says actual number of reported executions in Iran for homosexuality charges are 107 executions between 1979 and 1990, 5 executions in 1990, 1 execution in 1992, 3 executions in 1995, 2 executions in 2006, and 1 execution in 2007, but, not sure if this page has been updated since 2007. Then, quoting from a ABC News article, it says, "Homosexuality is a capital crime in the Islamic Republic of Iran. According to one estimate by gay rights activists, more than 4,000 homosexual men and women have been executed in Iran since the Islamic Revolution in 1979...." I think the numbers are inconsistent for a variety of reasons, but may be because executions may not always be reported, and then, it gets complicated if someone is not just charged with homosexuality, but what I would consider a "real" crime. For example, I'm not certain, but believe that picture in the original post of the two boys hanging is Mahmoud Asgari and Ayaz Marhoni. There is a controversy that they may have been charged as well with raping a 13 year old boy, and if that is actually true, and not just a lie from a regime that forced out a false confession, then we can't quite group them into the category of someone that's executed solely for homosexuality. I think though, that just one arrest, imprisonment, or execution for the sole "crime" of homosexuality would be way too many. After reading about Ebrahim Hamidi, I do think he's innocent and should be released.
yeah you right Rebecca. it's our law that allows hanging homosexuals but guess it's just for men. our regime mostly claimed they hanged because of pedophilia and homicide. Pedophilia is so committed where two genders forbidden to contact, hence it more happen in rural areas and religious part of country.
