Telling to me is the use of the word "transferred." You see, the use of cattle cars for people went out of favor around 1945.

Holy Moses. What gods and devils have wrought in the minds of men. I am reminded of something an old acting teacher once told me. The only justification for a Holy War would be to rid the world of the Cranston, RI accent. (Apologies to any RI brethren or sisters - this was a pal from, well, Cranston, RI).;)

    Quite!

Of course, what is rather obvious is how one person's hatred, or at least their professed hatred, is quickly absorbed and redirected by others.

Absorbed and redirected....hmm, sounds familiar. In my case, at times, better in the breach than the observance, I'm afraid.

You are a wise man, McFox. Must be the clean air (and fine malt) of your bonny land.:)

Well little fella, I hate to tell you this, but...

In a big battle between Christians and Muslims, the 13th century team doesn't stand a chance.

If the Islamic world provokes a showdown with the Modern world, there is only one possible victor.

Y'all had better learn to get along.

    exacly.
I love how they act like they can actually do something. We both know there is nothing they can do to us, besides fly planes into our buildings and act like cowards by killing innocent people.

Well, Islamic countries, especially Iran have very fast growing economis, also Islam is also the fastest growing religion of the big 5(high birthrate). I don't think that we should underestimate the threat that grows bigger and bigger for every year that pass.

Islamic countries with oil are doing very well right now. However, almost no Islamic countries are doing well outside of the oil industry.

In fifty or a hundred years, oil will no longer be the least expensive form of energy. When that happens, even the temporarily prosperous oil countries will sink to the bottom of the economic ladder due to their economically inefficient cultures.

No culture that is strongly tied to tradition and strong opposed to change can compete well in a global capitalist economy. Osama bin Laden knows this. He knows that he must destroy the global capitalist economy if he is to save his brand of Islam.

In free market economies, the only constant is change. These economies are very dynamic, because each individual economic actor is constantly re-inventing themselves in order to gain a market advantage over their rivals. This level of change requires a culture which supports innovation and experimentation, and even one which accepts failure.

The Islamic culture values devotion to tradition and absolute adherence to group values. A culture with those values is doomed to failure in a dynamic free market economy.

Hey, there's a lot of oil in Texas too ;)

Those countries in Middle East can manage high growth in non-oil sectors. I think that their growth will still be higher than in the western world even if we took their oil.

    1. They have a higher birthrate, their population is not getting older but it rather stays young and fresh and constantly pumps out fresh workforce.
    2. Lot's of rich Sheiks are doing big investment in a several future-projects(look at UAE, Qatar or Barhain etc).
    3. The people are very poor today, which means cheap labour.

Also, I am a little bit sceptic to the free market, since it tends to lead to unfair competition and fooling the consumer.

You can have all the people you want, if you have no means to arm them and fight then it's worthless. They can only send so many suicide bombers here on canoes ya know. They have few if any: nukes, fighter jets, tanks, Hi-tech weapons, etc...

Well.. Iran has the worlds fastest underwater missile. Able to sink all american ships and submarines in the gulf. It was recently taken into service. Iran also have the Shahab 3 missile(very similar to the North Korean No Dong) which is one of the fastest missiles on earth. No patriot missiles is able to stop it. Arrow2 mayby, but I doubt it.

Iran could not successfully conquer Iraq when it tried.

The U.S. had no difficulty conquering Iraq when it tried.
