Iran Says Israel "heading toward annihilation"..

What is the deal with this Ahmadinejad?

Since he took presidency he's done only 1 thing: Try to provoke Israel and the U.S. into a real fight.

Evidence of this can be seen with his repeated comments of ending Israel shortly, the holocaust myth, and of course the nuclear activities. Any "normal" evil dictator would be staying under the radar with these kinds of views so he wasn't blown up right away.

So what is Ahmadinejad's real motivations behind doing this? Is he really just a crazy lunatic, does he actually believe he can battle Israel and the U.S., or is there something else going on...?

Iran get's stronger everyday and the development is going very fast, it will soon be impossible to beat them in a millitary combat. Ahmadinejad will free.. ehm nuke.. palestine soon. Don't you see, we are all going under, a WW3 will start and the dollar will be useless. I am still hopefull since I don't think that nobody would like to waste a nuke on the area I live in :)

The Iranian president is most definitely making a deliberate attempt to provoke Israel and the US, not necessarily in that order. So the question must be asked, why? Why is Iran being deliberately provocative and trying to bait the US and Israel into a war?

Two options spring to mind ...
    1. Right now, he's bluffing in order to buy himself a little more time to complete his weapons arsenal
    2. He currently has sufficient chemical / biological / nuclear weaponry to initiate an annhilation war against Israel

I don't think this situation is going to be pretty.

It could be a hybrid of those two. He could be attempting to bluff that he has sufficient NBC weaponry to initiate a war of annihilation against Israel.

The trouble is, if he is bluffing -- he's bluffing against America. America always calls the bluff. We're the easiest to read poker players on the entire globe.

I don't think he's bluffing. I think he's pushing hard to get the world to accept Iran as a nuclear power. And, yannow, that just might work.

If nations are unwilling to expend the "iron and blood" required to prevent Iran from developing nuclear weapons, then he will win.

Then he can sit back and use nuclear blackmail against Isreal, Europe, the U.S., Iraq, Syria, Saudi Arabia, whomever he feels like on any given day.

It's a gamble that I would not take, but I'm an Athiest. I don't have a life in paradise after this one, this one is all that I've got.

If his nuclear facilities are sufficiently hidden and sufficiently protected, only a full invasion or a preemtive nuclear strike will assure their destruction.

    It's a real pickle.

Let's forget Israel, the new Shahab5 is what makes me worried. They can reach most of Europe including London, Madrid, Lappland(and almost Murmansk), 1/3 of Russia, Big parts of India and Also ethiopia. Even if they don't fire of the missiles, they can still use them in defense to sponsor terrorism and if anyone goes against them they will tell you that they will make what they did with Israel once again. Now imagine that they build a powerfull navy with submarines and such. Now they can rule pretty much wherever they like.

Sometimes I wonder.. Why not nuke the whole fucking earth so all humans cease to exist, both bad and evil. I am happy as long as the evil dies.

Missiles are expensive and, unless they are carrying an NBC payload, are not capable of inflicting massive damage.

Conventionally armed missiles are good against small targets, such as vehicles, ships, and individual buildings. However, they are not good at the destruction of major centers of population and such.

Don't worry too much about the Shahab5.

    Rough night?

That's a different worry. Actually, two different worries.

    1. Iran will nuke someone.

Not such a worry. Iran will do this a maximum of one time.

    2. Iran will hold the entire world hostage to nuclear blackmail.

This is much more of a worry. Can you imagine the crazy demands which the Iranian theocrats would make if they had any leverage over other countries?

Yeah, talking is "cruelty", but beating a young boy to death for breaking the fast during Ramadan is A-OK.

What about guantanamo? Is US distributing sweets there? What about Israel killing 10s of people daily? So will you like to Attack Israel having a bigger and complete Nuclear Programme than Iran.....These are only few examples.

I think you are mistaking a discussion about these world events as flippant. They're not, by any stretch of the imagination! Personally, I am concerned as to how this will play out and discussing it here is a good way for me to learn more about the situation and various points of view and perspectives.

Please feel free to elaborate from your own perspective, what you believe may happen as a result of the statements of the Iranian president concerning Israel's annhilation and the likely world response to Iran's nuclear enrichment program in light of such threats.
