Hi all, Can you please have a look at my website www.iqcatch.com and provide feedback on the design. I am also having a little bit of trouble with it working correctly on an Ipad4 with some back ground images not showing up on the menu and not scrolling down smoothly, would anyone else be able to confirm this on their Apple device? Thanks
Well... first up the fixed width layout and fixed metric (px) fonts are an accessibility wreck... and the lack of responsive layout and general use of "but I can do it in photoshop" design elements makes it unlikely to work on any moder 'smaller screen' devices -- like the iPad as you mentioned. It is NOT a design built for accessibility, it's one meant to stroke the photoshop jockey's ego with "gee ain't it neat" nonsense that to be frank, probably doesn't belong on a website in the first place. On top of the typical HTML 5 bloat (which again I still can't believe any sane or rational person would try to use) and jquery for nothing garbage, there is nothing even remotely resembling semantic markup to which a responsive layout or even modern CSS techniques would/could be applied. STRONG doing label's job, LABEL doing DIV's job, DIV for nothing if you were to use LABEL that way, nonsensical/gibberish use of numbered headings, clearing DIV like it's still 2001, presentational use of the STYLE attribute, static STYLE inlined in the head (I still say STYLE as a tag should be made obsolete and as an attribute be deprecated), HTML that only exists for scripting (in which case why is it in the HTML), endless pointless classes on elements that should be able to be nabbed off their parent... Hardly a surprise then it comes in at a whopping 55.7k to deliver 2k of plaintext and a dozen content images... in other words four to six times as much HTML as should be present. You'd almost think it was a turdpress template... Oh wait, it is. EVERYTHING I've come to expect from trying to take that steaming pile of manure off the shelf and shoehorn it into being anything more than an overglorified buggy insecure blogging system. As usual, another site that I'd throw completely away and start over from scratch as there is little if anything I'd be trying to save from it.
From an aesthetics point of view, what do people think of the current design? and the colors used in the background? Thanks
Hi All, have done some more work with the design and coding of the website, would really appreciate any feedback to see if it is heading in the right direction, thanks.
