Does anyone know what godaddy's IPS tag is? UKhost4u say they need it to transfer a .co.uk to a godaddy account.

    Thanks

You would think they would know the IPS tag for someone like godaddy!

    UKhost4u are useless!

The support guy I spoke to didn't even know who godaddy were.
The manager who I spoke to said I needed godaddy's ips to transfer the domain.

I've just phoned godaddy (from the UK - phone bill!!) and they didn't what an IPS tag is.

Someone help me out here. UKhost4u.co.uk are driving me up the wall. This is a site I've sold to someone and this is delaying me moving the domain and not looking good on me.

Why would you transfer a *.co.uk domain to GoDaddy Anyway? GoDaddy don't deal with .co.uk's cause they can't renew or register them, hence no IPSTAG, are you sure the support guy didn't think your were a silly twat trying to wind them up?

Why would it even be up to the hosting company to find an IPSTAG for you, do you know how many IPSTAG'S there are??
    :D :D :D :D

I agree that using a US registrar for a UK domain is going to cause trouble. Transfer it to 123-reg instead. Or just keep it where it is but push it to another account under the new owners name.

Ryan2006 you are quite obviously an employee of ukhost4u. Nobody comes on a forum and makes a first post like that.

But for your information ukhost4u really don't know what they are talking about. I said to a number of employees that I wanted to transfer a domain to godaddy and they told me to give them the IPS tag for godaddy.

If they already knew that godaddy would not accept the domain transfer why did they ask for godaddy's IPS tag???

 Notting, Admittingly i did work with ukhost4u, and i still host some of my websites with them:) . But in retrospect to your original post. How could ukhost4u transfer your domain to another registrar that wouldn't take it? Surely you are partly to blame for not understanding what 'godaddy' offer service wise?

Plus if they were refusing to help you, you can always go above there heads with .co.uk's and go to nominet directly who will change these details for you.

That explains your defensive stance then!

No i am not. The customer is ALWAYS right! They are the experts and should have told me, not me explain to them. They should have all the .uk registra with their IPS tags in a 5 min database so they can look them up really quickly. They were disrespectful to me in the tone of their language in their emails.

    Good info, thanks

lol, sorry for harrassing you mate :D , I agree having a database with all the tags is probably a good idea. I've just seen so many comments about people having a go at hosting companys without due cause, just thought i'd pick on you cos i used to work there lol.

Did you get the tag thing sorted out then? are you just transferring it to 123 reg or something? if you give me the domain and the new tag, i'll see if my old login details still work and transfer it for you.
