Whats up with microsoft these days ?? There is no buzz about the ipod competitor Zunes launched by bill. Wht do u guys feel. ZUnes goin down the drain eh ?
I know to little about the Zune to know if it's better than iPod or not. Somehow I dont understand why it should be so hard to beat iPod, I pesonally dont like it. Imho I think the new Sony walkman should beat them all...
My ipod with video is gr8! Never even heard of the Zune before this thread, I think that says it all. Everyone goes on about the ipod being over priced, but when I was shopping, all the 20GB+ players were over $250, so 30gb with video player for $299 ($289 at Sam's club) doesn't seem to bad to me.
Yep, it looks like IPOD but is supposed to beat its features. Dont know why bill cannot jus create a hype of zunes like he did for Xbox.
I have a 60GB Video Ipod that rarely leaves my side. I just don’t see the zune doing much to the ipods market share unless it out prices the ipod, has better video capabilities, or has some fancy new feature everyone will want. Does that sound like Microsoft to you? I don’t think so. I could be wrong but probability is on my side. Where is Vista?
at this stage in the game ... it's all about branding ... iPod's brand is jsut about unstoppable ... quality aside.
They are trying to figure out how to include a mobile Sirius Satallite receiver into the Zune. That would certainly be a nice feature. Of course, I wouldn't give up my 60GB Video iPod for one
Today betting iPod is going to be tough task for microsoft. they have a huge client base and a realy good product. i believe msn needs to launch something really gr8 to beat iPod in this market today. after google now Bill is going to have a tough time with this too.
because that IPOD has been out way longer i dont think that this zune thing will take off mainly because IPOD has been around a lot longer and has had the time to attract a huge market. There is no beating that
The Zune isnt even out yet...I'm absolutely certain that 6 months before the 1st iPod was released you didn't hear about it...jeez!!! MS only problem is the iPod market share, but features like WIFI in the Zune shall tempt users to switch. I'm going with the ZUNE. http://www.anmartech.com/news/2006/july/31/Microsoft+Zune+to+launch+on+November+14th.php http://www.anmartech.com/news/2006/08/11/microsoft+zune+to+retail+at+299.php
Everyone thought Microsoft was nuts challenging Sony's dominance with the playstation by bringing out the xbox... but they've slowly chipped away at it. Same strategy goes for the zune and ipod.
I find the ipod rather easy to use. And it's small with a good battery life... Gates is going to have to change zunes and add something that the ipod doesn't have but the user will want to seriously compete.
I don't think the Zune will completely fail. If Microsoft underprices the Zune by losing a bit of money per unit and packs it with features it should be able to take a small chunk of the mp3 market this season and slowly climb up. Anyone have any figures on how much of the music player market is owned by ipod?
Zune will succeed because they will find a way to tie it into XP Media Center computers. Once they work out the wifi to your "Shared Recordings" folder... you can sync all of your favorite TV programs without having to rely on iTunes to buy them. Do this, Microsoft. And you will take a chunk out of the market.
Judging from the info on all the new zune info sites, it looks like its going to be very feature rich which the ipod is not
