Do you think Microsoft will come up with something that will overthrow the iPod for popularity?

Me too. Look at the aesthetics of an Apple computer and look at a Windows.

Nothing can overthrow Google with another search engine.
Nothing can overthrow Nokia with another Mobile phone,
Nothing can overthrow Microsoft with another Operating System.
Nothing can overthrow Apple with Another Ipod.

Well, I think the popularity of some stuffs cannot be changed easily.

The only chance the zune "had" was the possibility to undercut apple but failed to do this. Do a search; the recent price for the zune is $250 which makes the zune compete solely on aesthetics and functionality but not price. Apple just has to much momentum.

I agree. The iPod is just doing so good right now.. and Microsoft would be the last company I'd expect to knock Apple out, especially with the Zune.

The iPod is so integrated into the society now and a huge industry of iPod accessories has spawned that it would be extremely difficult for anyone to bump the iPod out in the next little while.

I don't think Zune will seriously impact iPod sales. However there is definitely a market for alternatives to the iPod. Microsoft is going for that market. Personally I don't much care for iPods, so if I ever bother getting a media player I'll opt for the Zune or some other player.

Well I dont know about the US, but Nokia used to be the main phone manufacturer in the UK. In the last few years they've totally lost their edge and they are lagging way behind the competition technology-wise. I think your perception is very flawed, probably through years of mindless branding.

    Agreed .....
Not really true ... Nokia just doesn't hold the top places anymore .... I myselves am a Sony Ericsson fan .. W700 rocks .....

Thats a controversial topic mate .... by far MAC is better ... a lot better ... except for that people are not able to afford it .... Linux owns .. except for that most people find it incomprehensible .....but yeh still M$ hold the top place ...

    No Comments .....

To the thread starter .... the product is called Zune and we already have had a thread on it! I don't blame you for starting repetitive threads, but yeh .. one liner threads ? Man that's weird!

I don't think they will, although I think that Zune is of much higher quality.
Honestly, my ipod video is a piece of crap and malfunctioned 3 times within the first month of having it.
Ipods are made like pieces of junk and they break so easily, but they'll never be beaten.

I do wish that the Ipod would have an FM tuner, but Ipod controls like 70% of the mp3 player market. The Ipod is easy to use and download music to. If anyone has a chance to take market share away from the Ipod its Microsoft because that they integrate it with Windows player, but I don't see them taking the lead in the Mp3 player market.

I dont think Apple sit relax and see how the Zune of Microsoft is going to push it out of the market. The new 80GB Video Ipod really rocks.
