Seems like some of the bigger Ipod and iPhone download sites have run in to TOS problems with Clickbank this weekend. Guess it was only a matter of time.

Yes. I definitely noticed this. Something I'll have to keep an eye on.

I dare say that would have cost some affiliates/vendors a big part of their income!

Yeah, that's sad news for both affiliates and publishers.

I got an email from Clickbank about this on 5/15/08 after noticing all of my affiliate text links going dead, and yes it is affecting publishers. Moxie Drive Expressions is my article directory and gets about 50% of it's traffic from Iphone Download related search terms. However, I have found that people are just looking harder and clicking on more adsense ads to find download sites that are still available, only without containing the copyrighted words "Iphone", "Ipod", or "Itunes". Iphone traffic for Moxie Drive Expressions is up about 25% and Adsense income has doubled. I am sure that this may be temporary, but it is nice to see. Especially with the lost Clickbank revenue.

There are some download sites that have not been affected yet, but I think their days are numbered.

You can read my blog post at http://www.moxie-drive.com/blog/2008/05/death-of-iphone-download-membership.html for more details.

You're right about the days being numbered. I had just redirected all my links to a new site the night before last and got some sales right away - but now it's down too. I'll have to find one without the brand name in the url - but I'm betting they will not convert as well.
