Yes i saw in news that IPL 2009 is now play in S.Africa because of some security problem in INDIA. We have to just enjoy IPL from april. Nothing more.
Yup! its very bold step taken by IPL Management to shift venue from India to South Africa! i guess current atmosphere will definitely favor Cricket there!
I think its good to chance matches from india to South Africa. India can't handle security problems due to elections.
This is a good move as it will give it a truly international status. Good for the organizers. Rake in the moolah guys!
Yes thats right news you heared. Its first shifted to england and after that they decided to play in Saouth Africa.
I remember seeing it in the news.. they ignored matches in England due to weather conditions. Wherever it is played I would watch it in my TV - sitting comfortably from my home! [it affects my work though]
That is a pretty bad news for Indian cricket fans. Even the players aren't happy. At least the tournament is on. We can be happy with that news. Does anybody know the actual reason for moving it away from England? Isn't England a better choice than South Africa. Both the facilities and audience response in England is sure to be way better than RSA. But why?
I believe it is better they have continue with season two by playing in South Africa. IPL is a good source of income for BCCI, they are very calculative.
SONY MAX! If you are in India. Its a pay channel but you can still view it during the IPL season (even if you are a non-subscriber). BTW, the IPL concept is fully a commercial based element. I heard the logistics cost is somewhat cheaper in SA than in England (and as I mentioned earlier - due to weather conditions they had chosen SA as the IPL host). But they would face severe loses in on-ground advertisements and may have to compensate for franchisee owners.
BCCI has in fact terminated last year's agreement with SONY citing following reasons... SONY reached an out of court settlement with BCCI and regained the rights to telecast in India from World Sports group(WSG) with whom BCCI signed a fresh contract which results in BCCI getting about $1.64 billion (Rs 8,200 crore) over the next nine years, or about Rs 911 crore a year, compared with the Rs 450 crore a year it was supposed to get under the earlier deal.... NO wonder....BCCI is hell bent on staging the show....anywhere! Regards, RightMan
lol, thats a good way to make lotta money. [telecasting advertisement ignoring the last ball of each over]
