IPB v/s vbulletin

I know there are already a lot many threads on this topic but none which make a direct comparison of the latest vbulletin 3.8.2 to the latest 3 IPB

What do you think, which one should I purchase and why?

Also, vbulletin has vbulletin.org for all its hacks/mods. Whats the community mods/hacks url for IPB ?

 

vBulletin has tons of modification support, as does IPB. I would recommend vBulletin simply because I have used both and vBulletin is just easier to manage. The Admin CP layout is wonderful. I love the plugin/product system, and all the maintenance/diagnostic tools offered.

There is a new version of vBulletin coming out, vBulletin 4. Its suppose to come out this summer. Thats what I would go with.

vbulletin > sex

That's how good it is my friend.

 

vBulletin is always the best forums software! It's currently unbeatable

 

I've always liked IPB better. However I think IPB 3 looks terrible, so my vote goes to vBulletin.

 

I think, you should go with vbulletin, 100's of great skins, mods & tools etc

Also, their support is superb & 100's of helping sites are available for vb.

Moreover, installation of mods, skins, upgrading of vbulletting is very very easy than IPB.

Comparing ipb and vbulletin is like comparing ford and chevy. You have people that like one or the other, there are people that like them both and there are people that do not like either one. Then there is the group that is saying "ipb and vb?" and scratching their head because they dont have the slightest idea what you are talking about.

VBulletin has a massive community of users and developers behind it. I know this because I use VB. IPB on the other hand has a large following as well. At one time IPB was ahead of VB with major features, such as a built in picture gallery and profiles. But it in the past couple of years VB has made some major leaps with 3.6 - 3.8 versions.

I dont think you can go wrong with either one. Their both commercial grade solutions that are going to provide you with a secure and reliable forum.

vbulletin in my opinion is a hundred times better than ipb.

 

I'm a vBulletin fanboy, always will be, even with the latest news of the vBulletin price increase!
I used IPB years ago for a few months and didn't care for the setup and layout

 

Its time people move to IPB why coz vbulletin forums are bieng used by everyone nowadays... Lets be unique he he

 

adding a custom style will make it unique, wanting to change because "everyone else is using vb" isn't logical
