Long ago, before I actually knew anything about the net (6 months, haha ), I had a site designed for me. The designer offered to do everything for me (purchase the license, host the site, do the design, upload everything) and basically get it running for me. Now, I'd like to transfer the license after I've PAID him to renew it, but he says he will not renew it and furthermore he will not transfer OR handle the domain after it runs out of support time. Is there anything I can do? I don't think so, but I hope someone has a solution for me, because losing this license for absoloutely no reason would make me pretty upset.
For the initial purcahse? Unfortunately his. He says IPB's policy is not to transfer, otherwise he would. However, I've contacted IPB and they DO transfer. He just seems to be stalling for time to do something.
Well, I'd call you a BAD client..!! You should know that with one time costs...you never get life time service.. he gave you your license and domain...it's good enough.. Now you ask him to transfer the license in your name and push the domain into your account.. And then you can be on your own...!!
Yes. You can either... Ask him again. Buy your own license. File a complaint. (Such as, if you used Paypal.) Take him into court. Whatever works out best.
To be honest, you've lost that money and will never get it back. UNLESS, you can do a chargeback. You must have paid through bank/credit card (so if you've taken funds out of your BANK account trough PayPal, you still can do it)
