    Hi
Does anyone use an ipad to administer their site and server? I'm thinking of getting one for that purpose but wonder if it's suitable? Obviously browser based work would be ok, not so sure about being able to FTP or edit images or other limitations etc.?
    Any comments please.
    thanks

Get an iPhone, fits in your pocket and does the same job as the iPad since they both have the same operating sistem, the iOS... if you're getting the iPhone 4 then you'll have even more powerful hardware than on an iPad.

And yes you can do pretty much anything from the browser of the iPad/iPhone... and there are apps for FTP and image editing.

In my eyes, the iPhone is much better, as Shagoon said. It's easier to carry and it's packed with more features.

I use my iPhone for this, but the iPad with its larger screen makes it a lot easier, especially when using GUI based remote admin programs.

The iPhone/iPad comparison is not really good IMO. I don't like doing a lot of stuff on my iPhone, even though I can. There are apps for FTP, SSH, even remote desktop for Windows... but that's very cumbersome in the tiny screen of the iPhone. The iPad would be ideal for this because its size. If you are planning on doing a lot of work on your servers with this method, go for an iPad. If you just want the ability to do some things when you're away from your main workstation, an iPhone would be okay I think.

The iPhone has been great in a pinch. The larger screen, and larger memory that the iPad offers does make things a lot easier.
