Hello. I have a local adwords competitor that I believe is clicking on my ads. (surprise surprise right). I have been blocking the different ip addresses that he has used to do this over the last couple of day. My question is if a user clicks on my ad from a region with a denied ip address and gets a code 404 message does google still charge me for that click? If I do it this way my ad still runs in the ip region so they cansee my number in the ad but the link to my website is denied. My only other option is to use googles ip exclusion tool but than my ad will not show at all. Thanks for the help.
I'd be very very very surprised if something as crude as this isn't already been caught by Google and counted as invalid. Have you looked at whether they are recording lots of invalid clicks?
Not quite following the question magda. I have sent copies of my web server logs to google twice now, just to have them give me the whole spill about how they have the best tools in the industry at combating "invalid clicks". Maybe its my fault/ campaign practices. blah, blah, blah. I have denied a couple ip's from what appear to be landlines and yesterday he hit me from a verizon wireless network card. Today he hit me again from another verizon wireless ip that feel within the same net range. I have now banned the whole net range.
