IP bans for Page Rank requests?

I am seeing a strange phenomenon. Depending on if I am in the office or at home, the page ranks change. In the office many sites have a page rank of 0, when I am at home they are back to normal.

Does anybody know if Google bans IPs from retrieving page ranks?

Sounds like the "Google Dance". (Nothing to do with Basketball) When Google changes their PR they slowly work through their servers. If you get a different server, you get a different result.

    No Worries.

This is a phenomenon that I’ve been tracking for 2 weeks not. I also check each server (http://www.iwebtool.com/pagerank_checker), not sure if that works 100%, but it seems to. So I would eliminate the “dance” possibility.

It isn’t necessarily for my websites or the websites of the company I work for, it seems to happen to several other websites as well.

The google dance stopped well over a year ago. What you are seeing is different data centre results. Google runs on a perpetual aupdate now with the data propagating across the dat centres continuously. This is pretty normal behaviousr, although I would suggest that your toolbar at home probably has a glitch. Remove it and re-install it and it should be all better :)

Thanks for the reply. I don’t think this is a glitch. I get the same phenomenon on the tool bar as well as the web based Page Rank query.

All datacenters show 0 for the websites… but not at home, there they show different results. Please don’t forget, I am tracking this for a while now.

Have a look in the other forums. Especially the one on Page Rank Toolbar update that happened last month. Truth is the Page Rank Toolbars have been on a roller coaster for the last few days, especially is your site is in the US and you are checking from the UK.
This should be ending now as there seems to be a backlink export happening

Well not to be rude but, maybe you didn’t read what I wrote… I am NOT only using a toolbar!!!

I used the toolbar as well as http://www.iwebtool.com/pagerank_checker and http://seopen.com/seopen-tools/pagerank.php.

It has to be down to datacentre reporting then.

<added> If you think it might be an IP problem, simply run the query from a proxy server.
