This IP check must be one of Google biggest drawbacks! How can Google use such a rule. I previously worked at a company specializing in Real Estate websites. We are the largest provider of real estate websites in south africa and at the current moment none of them are ranking high for their keywords except the main site! We have in one of our cities over 60 estate agents (different websites one IP address) Only the main site ranks under the top10! I understand why Google is doing this but it is not practical and NOT WORKING!

If Google does discriminate it hurts the smaller countries with fewer providers.

Consider: I get excellent service from my host so recommend to my industry friends. They then use that host, link to content on my site etc and get penalised?

How does that help the host get business, where is the payback for good service etc. I know that's not Google's problem but they must consider it.

Not everyone is hosting on the big webfarms in the states!

We host with Crystaltech and I've noticed that for the 3 sites we have there they are all in different blocks
    216.119.94.*
    65.110.69.*
    63.135.100.*

The first ip was for a site setup in March, the last 2 were within 2 days of each other in May

This is the same for ipowerweb as I mentioned before - I think I have only 2 domains of those that I have with them that have the same block.

if your sites hosted at different IP then you can interlink your site with each other.
