Ip address tracking

Hi, I don't know if something like this exists, but I was wondering if there is some sort of widget/code/script that I can put on my website that updates and displays every time a new visitor comes to the page (perhaps showing their IP address). I want this to prove to potential customers that there are people constantly pinging the server so that I can increase my sales since it will be a website that sells web traffic. I want people to know that the website is visited often by many different users. Thanks!

Seems a little pointless if I'm honest.

When people visit your website to buy something all they care about is 1) How easy the product / service is to find on the site, 2) How good it is (does it serve its intended purpose?) and 3) How cheap it is. Only a minority of people are going to care that they can see their IP address on the bottom of a website.

Still, in response to your question I guess you could use something like this: http://www.allscoop.com/phpcode.php

    Hi MhW,

Thanks for the help! But that's not really what I was looking for. I probably should've explained myself better. I'm looking for something that lists the IP addresses of all the people visiting the website - not each individual - so that people will see how often the site is visited. Do you know what I mean? Anyway, thanks again! I appreciate.

Using PHP and a database you fairly easily could setup a bit of code that grabs the IP of a visitor and inserts it into a database. This may not be the most accurate method, but it may help.

Even if it is easy to do, I cannot think of reason why you want to implement this. Can you tell what is intension for linking the IP addresses of users. I have never seen something of this sort anywhere.

I'm also not sure that people would appreciate having their IP address on display for everyone else? Maybe that's just me... I know that people can discover it easily enough anyway and there's not actually a lot of information contained within the IP address but still, before we're completely absorbed into a Big Brother state I'd rather retain a little anonymity while I can. :)

Would it not be possible instead just to have a count of the number of visitors currently viewing the website?

Yeah, I know what you guys mean.... it could be intrusive to have their IP addresses show up. Bex, thats a good idea to just have how many users are currently online. I just kind of wanted some kind of real-time log to show that people visit the site a lot. Best to have just an online users thing I think though. Thanks guys!

YES that is very doable, but don't know if there is a script made for this out there. There should be. Simple PHP, some javascript so that your page doesn't have to relaod to show the new IP address from another visitor, and there you have it.

Yeah and a counter from some 3rd party source would be good too.

With our IP locator you can track IP addresses, hosts and websites. We probably use the most accurate IP address location database to determine any IP .....
