    Hello,

I have a website that currently shows the visitor's ip address and then performs a free whois lookup on any domain. Does anyone know if there are any legal issues I should be concerned with.

    Thanks,
    Jack

There shouldn't be any problem. There are tons of sites like yours, basically you are querying a whois service are showing the public available info about it.

    Thanks for the replies.

I wasn't sure if I had to obtain permission from the source of the public information.

I do it for the convenience of the visitor. My site is an information site about DNS and networking. The visitor can then perform a convenient whois lookup directly from my website.
