Invision Power Board SEO

    Anyone know of any good mods to re-write URL's for IPB?

    I have looked around google and Invisionize and really can't find anything.

    I was hoping to find something that re-writes the URLs like V7N with the forum name and thread name in it.

    Thanks!

    Don't forget to hack the title tag. That will be atleast as important, if not more than the urls

    What is wrong with IPB's default title tag system?

    The best way to SEO IPB, In my opinion, is to switch to vBulletin :D

    The *(Powered By Invision Power Board)* or what? It's the only thing after your own title that exists in the title

    At the end IPB and vBulletin are a sort of Google... just bluff

    I'm still using IPB at one of my sites but since I don't care SEO and have no time to develop a forum, I simply observe how most search engines visit and crawl the site regularly without needing of rewriting.

    If you are really concerned about SEO matters and do no want to switch to vBulletin, try something simpler:

    Mystique, bare in mind that this forum software does not have half of the features that ipb/vb has or has the security as ipb/vb!

    Agreed. :)

    And v7n doesn't run IPB - it runs vb.

    Also - anyone else remember the story about someone cloaking their site links into IPB forums via the SEO mod?
    http://www.threadwatch.org/node/5589

    Sorry, I just don't like IPB. Nothing personal. :)

    If you want to know how to remove the browser title
    "(Powered by Invision Power Board)"
    Just download your sources/action_public/boards.php file through FTP, open it and find
    $cp = " (Powered by Invision Power Board)";
    PHP:
    and change it to
    $cp = "";
    PHP:
    Or you can add your own title in between the quotations
    " THIS IS MY AWESOME FORUM " :D

    This will only show in the index page though.

    If you want it to show everywhere, login to your ACP. Go to Look & Feel -> Skin Manager, click the button next to your skin, and click on Edit Board Header & Footer Wrapper.

    find
    <title><% TITLE %></title>
    PHP:
    and change this to whatever you want. example:
    <title><% TITLE %> - Digital Point Forum</title>
    PHP:
    Click on "Save Wrapper" afterwards.
