Hello gurus, i received an email from paypal. It's indicates that i received an unauhorized payment from one of my buyer here at DP.

The title is Investigation into Recent Transaction: Case PP-469-521-246(Respond by 5/12/2008)

    1. How come that one of my buyers payment is unathorized?
    2. What should I do? can i send an email to my buyer and tell the problem regarding this issue?
    3. Is this a big real issue or a small issue, because the money he is currently on hold?

    Please give me advise. thanks

I too receive one such message, do not worry I think it is routine for them to do that. They will take their time and will release the funds in a week or two.

Do not deliver anything to the buyer until the payment is cleared because as it is stated, it is likely the buyer's account was stolen, a stolen credit card is used, account is limited or is under investigation for AUP violations and someone used it to pay you and thus it is under investigation now. Most likely the payment would be returned to the buyer.

I get this message regularly for the ebooks I sell (see sigs for examples).

What I assume is that someone wants to back out of paying. Paypal, in my experience, basically ALWAYS sides with the buyer... not the seller.

I also observe that after the year-end holidays (maybe when cash is tight) these chargebacks increase...

Some times this is not always fraud. Pay Pal's system routinely kicks payments back automatically and all it takes is a simple phone call to Pay Pal to see what is going on.

I usually agree with everything eddy2099 says, but not in this case, I recieved the exact same paypal message, I went straight into my resolution center explained the transaction completely and the next day the funds were released. I don't think there is a way to find out exaclty why you got this message, it isn't always because a stolen credit card is used.

I guess there are enough notices to stay away from said buyer.
