Introducing PreviewMyPPC.com - new tool to preview how your ppc ads will look

I have just launched PreviewMyPPC.com and thought it would be of use to people here.

When I’m creating Pay Per Click campaigns, the most important thing to me is creating compelling ad copy that will provoke users to click on my ads.

If this wasn’t difficult enough then you also have to work within the guidelines of the paid search engine you are working on. So for Google AdWords for example you are limited to only 25 characters for the title and 70 characters in total for the description. In the past I’ve always used Microsoft Word to write my ppc ads so I can use the word count tool to count the characters, but to be honest this is a bit of a pain, and well just a bit messy.

Google AdWords do have their own preview tool but it only displays ads as they would appear on the right hand side of the Google search results page. It doesn’t preview them as they would appear if you get one of the sponsored ad slots that appear on the top of the page, above the main search terms. These are displayed slightly differently as the description fields are merged into one and displayed on 1 line, not 2.

And as far as I am aware Yahoo! and Microsoft AdCenter don’t have any stand alone preview tools, so I thought to myself, “hey wouldn’t it be cool if there was a site where I could write and preview my ppc ads for all 3 major search engines?” So I went and built one.

PreviewMyPPC.com is a free resource where you can write, edit and preview how your paid search ads will appear on Google AdWords, Yahoo! Search Marketing and Microsoft AdCenter.

    All feedback most welcome.

Sorry, but the idea sucks. First of all, why are you not showing all 3 preview ads on the same page? Yes, there are different rules (text limit etc) for each but you could just place 3 text boxes for each one. First time they enter it duplicates to the other text boxes, and then they can adjust from that. But I really don't see the point in having a preview. We know the text limits that's all we need to know.

We tried displaying all 3 ads on the same page but it just looked really messy. Especially as all 3 search engines display the ads slightly differently.

Sorry to hear you think the idea "sucks" lol. I created the site as a tool for myself, I saw a need and the site fulfills that need. If other people can make use of it then cool, if not then no big deal.

Will check out the Safari issue too.

newtothis.... aKa NOOB!!! noone wants to hear ur opinion.

Dude its a great idea. This could be merged well into a standalone desktop program.... you could make a **** load off it :D Like do one free and charge for the other 2. Or allow so many previews before charging.

    Hope u do well :D

Oh and macs are crap... dont bother trying to do it for them.

newtothis is the only thing that sucks in this thread.

good idea, try and expand on it more (e.g. show competing ad's based on some keywords entered - that would be sweet)

Thanks for all the feedback guys, much appreciated. We're just about to launch version 1.1 whereby if you create a preview of an ad for say Google AdWords then click on either the "Microsoft AdCenter" or "Yahoo! Search Marketing" tab then you will see your ad already pre-populated for that search engine. Hopefully this will be live very soon.

Nice. Pretty useful, but if we want to make that site hit big, then you need to put in more functions.

Would be really nice if like say when I enter the keyword " sail boat" , our min bid and the google ad on your site, that automatically you show us the listings on google for that term, plus where our ad will be located. If you are able to put this type of feature into your site, then I would use your site everyday.

Nice tool, Kieron. How about adding the ability to see specified keywords bolded in the ad? (And remove the bolding of the full title line, because none of the three search engines does that.)

Kieron - Good stuff. Newtothis is an idiot.

Here's how I used it. For a client who hired me to write AdWords copy, I made mockups with your site so they can see how the ads will really look. Better than "faking it" in Word.

This is very handy, thank you. Being a Mac person from way back, I can say that Safari is what sucks. I wouldn't make a big priority out of that browser just because one person is too lazy to download Firefox.

    Sweet...

Now you just have to make a tool that lets your preview how much it'd cost for a specific keyword and then you're raking it in.
