I don't think is a paypal related matter, in fact filesonic or other ones are not using this URL encoding system.
But I could be wrong: maybe paypal is targetting Oron - and just oron - so it's a trick to make them cool down.
As you all stated above, it's really something tedious to manually add the filename to every link.
But if I must chose between URL encoding and Paypal down for 2 more weeks, I prefer an encoded url...
Anyway I will repeat for the 10th time: please introduce an automated email service when files are deleted, and the motivation of the files deletion (DMCA, complaints, no downloads within 6 months). I have some very old threads and I found out all the links are down. I have NO IDEA if files have been deleted because of DMCA or because nobody did download them during the last months.

 

I just wish they would be more up front with us. I really really hope it's an error on their part, because in the email i received they seemed to not know what i was talking about.

I guess the issue might be that they made some deeper changes to the url encoding and that somehow broke the script which generated the links with filenames, what do i know i hope they fix it.

In response to your DMCA or no DMCA removal issue i think you can see an [Expired] tag next to your files in the log if they expired due to no downloads.

Otherwise it's always DMCA. (or you manually deleted them)

 

Can somebody tell me what's the difference between the two affiliate links? One is the simple and the other one is the premium affiliate links.

Thank you, also why did you change it? It was better before imo Best would be url + filename in the hyperlink for best seo. You know urls rank higher then most other things.

 

Trust me, files JUST DISAPPEAR. Checked it at least 100 times and I'm talking about stuff that is FREE. I never got no such thing as "expired" anywhere

 

Can you figure out how nice is to check 15.079 files ? Unless downloaders warn me, I never find out which files have been deleted......

 

I know. very sad. I started putting the number of files in a folder - inside the name of the folder and I update it when I add more files. at least I can compare the two numbers.

the only thing that comes to mind is putting links in a txt before posting them and then WGtools link check them later. although the link checker isn't always in working condition

 

I'm getting frustrated with the situation and found this russian forum with a guy who have made a program to convert oron links into the old ones, but i can't understand how to register / message him to get the program...

For now i actually managed to make to find a script which translates the normal http:// urls into hyperlinks for my site, so it's ok for me now, but still prefer the hyperlink to be the filename :/

But i did read that russian forum with translation a little bit further and progressive made it clear that the changes was necessary for reasons unknown, i'm thinking it's an paypal issue.

Like someone said, i rather have paypal, then nice links hehe.

 

Maybe possible to write a program in Pascal to generate links but i don't know how
