Real fans of the site understand you need to make money in order to produce free content, and those real fans even visit the advertisers and buy their products knowing that it will support the product they love. I totally agree with this statement. Thank you for putting so gracefully.
I might be wrong but I think they sold to AOL and not Netscape unless Netscape was also bought out by AOL. I wonder how much these bloogers get paid. I just looked at the stock block and there were some 11-12 posts already for the day. They must have a huge number of bloggers blogging on that network. Their cost must be a fair bit too.
Hey Paldens, I hope that you just forgot to mention that this is someone else's article and are not trying to pass it off as yours. Because if you are trying to pass it off as yours, and that is how it appears, then shame on you. If you just forgot to mention that it is Jennifer Slegg's article then make sure you give credit where credit is due next time. http://www.jensense.com/archives/2005/08/interview_with.html
My bad, it was indeed AOL. @YoungMaster: good catch. In the rush to add my answer, I never noticed that he didn't credit the source of the article.
Nice read. Does anyone have links to this guys blogs? I am not familiar with him or his stuff, I don't think.
http://www.calacanis.com http://www.weblogsinc.com Also you can do a search in google for jason calacanis.
@pjk: I've listed two on the first page of this thread, from where you can see the other blogs in the network.
Guys did I do something wrong if I found this article online and I posted it here , I am sorry if so , but why I got this message that I have quoted ! Whatever thank you "mIt was my fault do post here .
The reason why I wrote you that message is because you can't just copy articles off someone else's site and post them wherever you want without their permission. It was hard to tell your intention behind the whole thing so that is why I kind of gave you two responses. A. If you are aware of what you are doing, and doing it with the intention of letting people think that it is your article in the hopes of them maybe giving you green rep, then that is not acceptable at all. B. If you were simply unaware of what you were doing, then someone should let you know that it was not right. I would like to give you the benefit of the doubt and say that your intention was B. In that case, you should remember a few things for next time. 1. Let us know where you got it from. Give the article writer or in this case interviewer credit. 2. Always ask permission before you copy an entire article. If you don't then it's stealing. 3. If you are not going to ask permission to copy it, then just supply a small quote and then link to the article. I hope that helps.
And how many people work on this? What's the profit after all business expenses? How reliable is it? All that has to be kept in mind when judging a specific business. I think people should talk less about maximums and revenue but more about profit and sustainability.
