Would having interstitial ads on a site hurt it's SEO?

So we have www.SiteA.com running interstitial ads from AdBrite where after the 2nd page load it goes to an advertiser's page. The user is prompted with an option to "skip" the ad.

    Would this hurt www.SiteA.com rankings?

Personally I doubt the search engine spiders would recognize such an ad. They would not be able to execute the necessary javascript.

On the flip side, such an ad destroys the reputation of a website. If you happened to trigger some type of penalty flag, a manual reviewer may label your website as spam. It makes for a very poor user experience. Nobody wants to deal with an ad that hijacks the entire browser window.
