A lot of this site seems to be promoting programs like AdSense. Have any of you set up an online store for some niche market, and made agreements with drop shippers to drop ship your products? I am just getting into this business, well getting back into this business after a long time. During college I used to promote adult content but I don’t really feel like that’s what I want to keep doing, I would however like to have an online business besides my day job. Hehe after finishing college I realized exactly how little freedom there is in having a 9-5 day job, so hopefully build up my online business again while staying away from the dark side of the web. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks.
Our suppliers drop ship for us which we take advantage of as much as possible. It is not only a great way to avoid a high startup cost, but it also saves a huge amount in not having to ship merchandise 2 times. Our suppliers also put our marketing package in with the products that we sell so it looks like it is coming from us. My best advise as for finding a drop shipper is to find a wholesaler that drop ships. Drop shipping directories and companies tend to be a scam most of the time. Otherwise find an area of interest to you first, and then look for a supplier. This way you are sure to sell products that are interesting to you, which will make selling much easier. So many people look for a supplier first and never think about whether they know anything about or even have any interest in what they are selling. If you have some passion about what you are selling, it will also be much easier to devote your own time to creating and bettering your business. You are at an advantage in that you aren't reliant on creating a successful business online, but at a disadvantage because you may not be able to devote the time needed to create your business. Stick around this and other ebusiness forums, as they are the best resources.
For forums I would checkout: WPW - http://www.webproworld.com/forum.php WMW - http://www.webmasterworld.com For general information sites I would check out: http://www.entrepreneur.com/ http://www.sba.gov/ http://www.allbusiness.com/ http://www.clickz.com/ There are a ton more. Im just too tired to think of any right now.
