    Hi all,

I am having a problem setting up the internet connection on my new PC.

I rent an apratment that has a wireless router, when I used my lap-top for the first time a box come up and asked me if I wanted to connect, after inserting the user/pass/IP I was surfing on-line.

This is not the case with my desk-top PC. When I go into Network connections, there is only a "local area connection 3", no wireless connection tab. I thought maybe me motherboard could not pick up the wireless net, so I went to the PC shop and bought a Wirless USB adaptor. I have installed but nothing has changed!

If anyone can help I'd really appreciate it. Rep added for valuble comments!

If you are a super computer whiz and wouldn't mind chatting to be via gmail chat, I'd pay you some $ for your time. Anything to get my new PC working with net! Please, help me :)

When you bought the wireless usb adapter, there might be a software with it. Install that utility and configure it to connect to the wireless.

Otherwise when the USB adapter is plugged in, Goto -> Start Menu -> Run. Type there 'services.msc'. Then when it opens up services, go at the very end of the name column and look for Wireless Zero Configuration. Right click on it select properties. Make sure the Startup type is Automatic. Press Ok and then again right click on it and restart the service.

After that your system should start searching available wireless networks

Your apartment rental includes WiFi? You should make sure it's secure/safe before using it.
