hey Everyone, i need help, i'm not sure this is the place to ask, but its worth a try. I'm trying to run a Radio Station, plain music from 60,70,80 from my country. Not My computer does not have resources to run a server. What I am wondering is can i Run a Radio Server over the Server that my Website is running on, and how can i do it.

My website is hosted on Globat... Thank You....

Maybe you'd best ask globat! It also depends of what kind of radio server do you have... maybe it won't be compatible with globat's hosting plans....

    1) find out what server program you will need to run.
    2) ask your webhost if they can accomodate it!

You will need an audio feed from someone and you will need to run a media server on your machine. You can point the media server to the audio source and it will pump the audio and distribute it to your visitors. You can try MS' media server or you can try real media or both.

I once looked at remote streaming as well. I used to have my decks hooked up to my own PC and then broadcast my mixes live to my friends in Holland (sometimes including a webcast). Done all that with ShoutCast. Only issue is bandwith. I had 512 upstream so broadcasting at 64K/sec means 512/64 = max 8 listeners. In reality the 3d or 4th made everyone start buffering like mad.

I forgot my conclusion on serious solutions bacause I didn't continue looking in to it but the possibilities are out there. One concern is licensing though. There's some websites out there listing what yuo can and can't do without paying.

All of my content would be Old yugoslavina music. which i believe most recording houses and groups fall apart in 90's turmoil. Anyways, how many listeners can i Have if i Use my machine just to point to the list online, for example, upload files to the website im hosting, then run it from my machine. Does the Bandwith have effect then on my machine or how does that work???
