I have a problem with the internet that happened lately and I can't figure out why. Basically, when I open a new browser (IE of FF) some web sites are loading fine while others I have to refresh between 1-8 times in order for it to load. I'm on XP and fully updated, tried turning off the firewall, cleaned up the PC, ran a defrag plus other things but I am still getting the problem. The pages are picking up the page rank for a site but just coming up "The page cannot be displayed" Anyone got any ideas? JP
I assume that you are not using dial up connection. There may be many reasons for this problem Most common reasons are - 1. Your computer is infected with virus 2. bandwidth collision (More specificaly data packet collision) 3. DNS error (i.e. the DNS you are using is having some problem) ~ this is the most common issue with broadband networks. try to set alternate DNS if you have any. Contact your ISP for more details.
try this for ie: flush the cache... go to tools|options and delete off temporary files... also, when you refresh, do a ctrl+f5 instead of clicking the refresh button...
Thanks for suggestions: Ran a virus scan and found 4 java blighters... now gone. Ran pest patrol, found a couple of things...now gone. Yes I can ping all sites in question, just can't view in IE/FF unless plenty of refreshes. All temp files have been removed a couple of time. Ctrl+f5 produces the same results. Supose it could be the DNS playing up, but need to make sure it is as contacting the provider means using my limited Spanish which would be interesting, I would prob end up ordering 3 sheep rather than sorting a internet problem
I had this problem also. It turned out my ISP was having some issues. It was driving me nuts, I was thinking something was going on with my router.
