I came across this thought provoking presentation by the CEO of Mahalo.com (The human powered search engine). He presents an interesting topic of "internet pollution" thats being creating now that didn't exist a few years ago. He goes on to say our drive to create revenues we are recklessly destroying the internet with spam. (Web pollution) This spam is being indexed and is filling up the search engines, places like technorate, digg, squidoo, well basically every web 2.0 site is indexing incredible amounts of spam, so that if don't do something about it, in a few years we will have quite a mess and the internet will be quite an ugly place. You can watch the video here at his blog, worth a watch. Watch Video
That is very very true , alot of junk out there and I personally am sick and tired of it. Try to find something and here they are , try to open your inbox and here they are again . I'm from Romania, and in my country spamming via google or email is a old fashion , now we have the "great" opportunity to be spammed even on our phones. Google.ro is filled with junk, and when I try to find some info ... here they are ... results from searches from pages from other searches , and so on. This should stop. Google spamming shouldn't be just immoral , it should be ILLEGAL.
Very true, I know what your talking about. Those fake search engines that index google searches and put adsense on it, then you search on Google and click a listing and your brought to the scrapped search. Very annoying indeed. In this video he is very true about the web 2.0 spamming. On DP even here people are doing it, (well not now) But a few months ago people used to sell Diggs, and stumbles. I know I'm guilty of doing this once or twice. But basically they try to game those web 2.0 sites by paying for diggs or stumbles to get there Spam pages more traffic so they generate more revenue from affliate links or adsense. Now DP has banned this activity here.
nowadays google teams always work hard to create the best search engine that give us more relevant info. Just take positive thinkin for technorate, digg, squidoo etc.
So does anyone else find this video interesting? I think Jason Calacanis speech is very true and reflective of the current events right now on the exploitation of the internet which is proliferating a awashing the entire net with BAD information. Ex. people who right stuff they don't even know about becuase the adsense clicks pay good on that nich is one explain of finding bad information.
