Internet Marketing Membership Site - Good Idea?

I wrote a series of articles recently about membership site ownership for my clients.

They are available on my blog for anyone who wants to read them - but generally, I'm wondering how many people here either own a membership site, or want to own one?

And, if you have a successful one, how long did it take you to market into something that started generating good revenues?

I'd love to hear everyone's experiences...

    Thanks

Hmm... a membership site is very good idea....
IMPORTANT : Must give best value to keep members that you have !
try to get 50-100 members for your site.... and try to keep them for 6 months .
then you will have good earnings... also you must work a lot to give them QUALITY not Quantity !

I work with a new membership site platform (Bloomfire) and over 1000 Bloomfires (that's what we call our sites) have been launched. Currently, a new Bloomfire is being launched every hour. So we own lots of "membership sites."

Our most successful customers start generating revenue whenever they begin marketing their site, whether by launching via their mailing list or via their well-trafficked site. We built our platform to be extremely simple, so our customers can focus on making content and marketing their site. We take care of all the programming, design, etc.

Check us out—maybe we can work together!

I think it's better to have membership forum. Because you don't need to fill all of the content

To be honest with you, I thought there are already a lot of existing competition in the market place.
A great number of freelancers are doing the job at the moment. I'm not sure if it is a niche which will be easy for one to be outstanding within short time.
But anyway, to the end, it is all about quality. So if your post is of high quality, and your site is of high PR and monthly traffic, of course you will manage to make money via selling post and links.
