Well, you don't need to wait for 6 months, if you put your service up and running and then promote it with AdWords or similar service, you should see results from day 1. Wait 6 months for what? To build traffic, that's the reason. While it is true, you can have traffic by alternative methods so no need to wait
You can see results within minutes with internet marketing, it's possible to go from earning nothing to earning a lot over-night, just depends on what your doing and how your doing it, but obviously research is needed, if you have some close-friend who is making $1000's a day using a method, then they share this method with you and help you set it up, you too should be earning roughly the same as them.
