Hey guys, I've been thinking about this a lot lately, does anyone else feel that this whole industry could collapse at any minute (well it would take, months, if not years to die). But lately things are getting more "snake oil" then ever. I feel that things like SEO, website optimization and such are almost "scammy" as there is no proper accreditation for a "Certified SEO consultant". This means, that no matter who you are, you can tell anyone that you are a "Professional SEO Consultant" and virtually lie about anything... I mean, how can they prove you wrong? Same thing can be applied to web designers, any sort of "internet engineer/specialist". As well as advertisers, sure they might be paying you right now, but what happens when the funds dry up? What if their affiliates stop paying them? And now, everyone knows how to do SEO, everyone has made a few hundred bucks off their websites, and everyone thinks that they're going to make it BIG on the internet... What happens when the industry starts to "eat itself"? (People severely taking pay cuts because the competition is offering services for pennies on their dollar, yet NEITHER companies can prove what they're doing will actually help their business) We all know you can make legitimate cash through online ventures, and that the industry is doing extremely well right now. Just every day, I think about this and worry... What do you guys think? Maybe I'm just crazy, but watching new ad networds pop up every day, seeing thousands of new people try make money with black hat techniques, and lots of people losing out money because they were scammed just feels like a recipe for disaster.
