Internet Explorer 7

Hi!

I just downloaded and installed I.E.7 and I have to tell you that it's strange. It's strange because it gives to the text a blur effect. This is not a feature that can be turned off?...

What's your opinion about I.E.7, comparing to the previous ones?

 

ie7 has some well documented bugs, and is less tolerant to poorly designed websites. Its giving a lot of people a lot to think about!

 

Could you explain this idea?

 

Look at a site in IE6 and say firefox - they would probably look pretty similar.

Then load the same site in ie7 - all of a sudden web pages don't look how they were designed to look!

 

Yes, you're right. As I already said, that "blur effect" on the text is so strange...

 

IE is free product of Microsoft.

Microsoft is enjoying its already established share in browser world and have no worry to lose it because it doesn't charge for this product.

 

We have used I.E. 7 for a while when it came out and it wasn't the best thing since sliced bread. Noone likes it right now (here) so we decided to give MS some time to sort out their bugs

 

I have had no isxsues whatsoever with IE7 - big improvement over IE6 once I worked through all the new features and figured out how to customize them.

The "blur" effect is from the new Clear Type feature in IE7. From the Help file:

 

Actually, IE7 is MORE W3C standards compliant than IE6 so I'm afraid that makes no sense. If pages that previously looked fine in IE6 now appear different in IE7, that's probably because IE6 is more tolerant of errors. If they are YOUR pages, see link below for IE7 optimization.

I found this interesting: So far the only website I have encountered that was NOT ready for IE7 was Ma Bell (Bell Canada) - they fire up an error message telling me I have to upgrade to IE6 (!)

Fortunately, there is an add-on for IE7 that allows you to pretend to be IE6 for such sites. See http://www.ieaddons.com/default.aspx?cid=home&scid=0. That same link will take you to several other IE7 add-ons.

Are you sure your uncle was able to 'uninstall' IE7 completely? {not RC1 or RC2}
I think it cannot be uninstalled

If there is a way then i want to uninstall it -- i think i can live with IE6 with more comfort.

 

Yes, it's easy to uninstall IE7 and roll back to IE6. The IE7 installer backs up all files rather than delteing them so the rollback is seamless.

Just use the standard "Add or Remove Programs" from your Windows Control Panel.

Look for the entry that says "Windows Explorer 7". If you uninstall it, Windows will roll you back to IE6.

Like others, I assumed you could not uninstall IE7. I have it installed on two desktop computers...it works fine and I love it, BUT on my laptop it just freezes and I cannot use it all...can't wait to get home and get it off the laptop...thanks

its good i think, it gives smooth pages & result. Looking cool. Am using it successfully without any errors. But, most of the time i use firefox.
