JD, I do agree with your post. FF certianly isn't perfect. I also think you'll find that the rendering or HTML while using IE is somewhat more drastic in terms of expected results when compared to "More Standards Compliant" browsers. I spend a lot of my time developing sites for clients and myself, and can assure you from experience that IE is 99% of the time the case for delayed dev times and general headaches. It's not a "well built" browser IMO.
I was watching very closely how Mozilla's folks approached the latest domain name spoofing problem (using non-Latin characters in domain names) in FF and I have to say that I was very impressed with how they handled this case. There was a massive problem discussion (about 40 emails a day) in the first week or so with many great developers from all over the world. It only took them a couple of weeks to come up with a sound solution and implement it (the most resent download). This is something that MS can definitely learn from. J.D.
Microsoft aren't too slow with releasing patches either - there's just so many to produce though... Considering the financial resources MS can bring to bear compared to Firefox's small dev team, and the huge market share they've had for years (read = added responsibility to clients/users), I really don't think the security issue is at all defensible. Like you say, TCP/IP was designed 20+ years ago... IE6 wasn't.
thats pretty good from someone who cant get a url to work that has a space in it. htt p://www.google.com you tell 'em Anthony !! (teehee)
If you keep using M$ you will not get anything to work properly I am behind the "GAP" computing platform (GoogleAppleOS/IBM)
All I know is that in my code I have toooooooooooooon more lines to deal with special cases for IE than other browsers. It aggrivates me every time. Firefox isn't perfect or anything, but I don't have too much that's really BAD about it like IE.
You seen what the article said, IE is part of XP SP2 OS, well the solution is to switch to Linux OS or MAC. Don't depend on flawed technology (IE/XP SP2) for your data security. Check out www.mepis.com This IS the future guys, you just don't see it yet
