Hey guys, i just purchased a Compaq pc from a friend. Its not new but its not really old. When trying to connect to the internet via "Wireless Connection" With a linksys wireless adapter, it shows that it connects to the internet, it sends packets but it won't receive any. When trying to release and renew the ip it says "cannot contact dhcp server" while renewing. i noticed in ipconfig that it does not have a default gateway and the ip looks wierd. i though it was the tcp/ip settings but maybe i was wrong. Any idea's? its windows xp home edition. I know old school, but as stated i just purchased this. the connection at the bottom shows it connects but i just can't get on the internet. it don't show limited connectivity or anything it looks as if its connected but nothing when i try to use the net.
