What is the best way to get an internet connection for my laptop in a small town where there is no broadband? I am on DSL at home but have to travel 30 miles from home. Thanks in advance

You can get a broadband card from some cell companies but chances are, if you are like me, they do not work in your area. Not much you can do unless you can find a hotspot near where you travel. Do a scan and see if it picks up any networks.

It depends whether you country allows this. There is a possibility to set up long haul wireless internet connection between two access points using directional antenna. Since 2.4GHz and 5GHz are license-free frequency, I'm pretty sure you can harness them for wireless communication between two points.

It will depend a bit of expertise and know-how to set up the equipment.

I am in the U.S. and the town I go to there are no big businesses. Not even a Motel. They do have internet inside but chances are it is dialup. Thanks guys!
