Internet Business Reality Check - Part 1

    The Internet battlefield is literally scattered with casualties, primarily the victims of snake-oil selling, self-aggrandizing and self-appointed gurus who spew promises of mansions and foreign sports cars if you just buy the “insider secrets” and “proven system” of the get-rich-quick schemes that only they know about – and that they are willing to share with only the select few who are willing to become one of their exclusive coaching clients (usually for a ridiculous fee) or join their affiliate program. If you’re already one of these victims, don’t worry… you’re not alone!

    The irresistible attraction of Internet marketing, especially with an affiliate program, is that the risk seems relatively low and it seems like it ought to be really easy to do. After all,

    • It costs almost nothing to register a domain name, set up web hosting, and start the business – and you don’t usually need employees or costly assets;
    • Since you’re selling through an affiliate program, you don’t have to worry about buying or managing any inventory;
    • And since everything just runs on auto-pilot 24/7, all you really have to do is wake up in the morning and see how much your Clickbank account has increased

    In reality – which is where we actually live – thousands of people lose money every day when they get hooked by the lure of easy money. For some reason, most people seem to believe an online business or affiliate program is somehow exempt from the problems that face a traditional, offline business.

    The first step to achieving success in any business is to get real about it! Don’t fall prey to the naïve misconception that positive cash flow somehow just happens automatically on the web, or that customer service issues (like, when someone doesn’t like what you sold them and wants their money back) don’t happen just because you’re selling someone else’s products through an affiliate program.

    The good news is that you really can make money, and potentially more than you ever thought possible, by building a successful Internet marketing business! You really can do it with very little risk, and you really can do it relatively quickly. And you really can do almost all of the work necessary in the evenings and on the weekends while you keep your day job. However, you need to first come to grips with these very important components of the success equation:

    It takes planning, knowledge, work, and discipline to build a successful and sustainable business!

    If you want to build a business that will ultimately enable you to quit your day job and make a career out of running your Internet marketing business from home in your pajamas, you’re going to have to build a business that will last more than a month! And in order to do that, you’re going to have to actually work at it. Success is entirely possible, but it is also not an accident.

    In Part 2 of this series, you’ll learn the basic formula for success in an online (or any other) business…

    "It takes planning, knowledge, work, and discipline to build a successful and sustainable business!"

    This is very true, Anyone who thinks starting and maintaining an online business is not going to require time, dedication, money and effort is fooling himself.

    Absolutely... We'd all like to have a money tree or some of Jack's beanstalk beans, but I haven't stumbled across anyone yet who actually found such a thing!

    If anyone does find one, I hope they'll share it with me! ;-)
