this is already discussed a lot of time, and am sure most people will go with mozila! nothing beats mozila firefox!! cheers
Most web-savvy people end up using FireFox as it is very easy to add functionality to through plugins.
I really like Opera, but like rgchris said, it doesn't feel right. I use it on my phone and want to buy it for my nintendo DS though. Opera has alot of contests. I have won 2 goodie bags (2 t-shirts, a pen, some stickers, buttons, etc.)
You might want to read this if you want to know why I use Opera. http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?p=3247044#post3247044
It's not as safe as Opera though. I've had tracking cookies and even two viruses get through Firefox. Nothing has gotten past Opera - ever.
The same thing can be said about Opera, Galeon, Konqueror, K-Meleon, Epiphany, Safari and a whole host of other browsers. So based on your criteria, how is Firefox the best?
Well, of course, Firefox, Iceweasel, Galeon, K-Meleon, Epiphany, Camino, Flock, Netscape, Mozilla and others, all use the Gecko engine. Konqueror and Safari use the KHTML engine (modified by Apple for Safari). Opera is a proprietary bit of software. Opera has been, in my experience, and through hearsay, the most user friendly of the batch, pioneering so many of the features we now take for granted. Until I became caught up in web development, it was my browser of choice. My problem with Opera is that I cannot depend on it to render as expected from build to build. Too many times, something would work until the next upgrade, and then not work until another revision came along. And, vice versa. Firefox, though, has been rock solid stable. I'm not saying that it's bug free or couldn't be improved; I'm saying that I can depend on it to render my work as I would expect per the specs. Yes, I know about Opera and Konqueror/Safari and the ACID2 test, and I don't put much stock in it because from a practical/pragmatic point of view, Gecko does the better job on real web pages. So my choice among browsers is Firefox/Iceweasel simply because I spend so much time viewing and testing web pages in it, and have become comfortable with its UI. cheers, gary
Just because a rendering engine is proprietary doesn't mean it sucks like an egg. As for Opera, I've found the opposite to be true. The pages I code work the same, from build to build. Opera's always on the bleeding edge of standards compliance, and while that can cause problems for some people, it hasn't caused any for me. As for the Acid2 test, I give about as much weight on that as I do the hopes that Microsoft will develop a truely standards-compliant browser without buying out a competitor and turning the IP into crap. But that's just me.
Firefox all the way! The feeling is right, you can customize it easily and to your needs. I´ve got less crash problems with FF than with IE or Opera.
I personally use Mozilla firefox and according to my cpanel awstats so do 80% of my visitors. Although Opera is also as good it sometimes doesn't work well with other sites.
With Opera, you can choose to have the browser either mask or identify itself as either Gecko (Mozilla based) or Trident (Internet Explorer) on a per-site basis. Just another tidbit. Press F12, then select "Edit Site Preferences" and make the changes you want for that individual site.
Comparing internet browsers? hmmm... MOZILLA FIREFOX THE BEST AMONG THEM ALL... User friendly and lots of useful add-ons easy to use...
And yet lacking in anything but the core basic functionality right out of the box - especially when you consider what Firefox's target market really is.
