    Hello there,
I'm an international student in Sydney and wonder how to pay tax for online income. Do I need a work permit too? I never had a work permit because I work online..well also work permit allows me to work part time 20 hours a week, but not sure if that covers online job.

I just started with Adsense and don't know if I need a tax file number for it? To be honest, even if I get a work permit, I work more than 20 hours on my computer. I'm lost on this issue. Anybody has some idea?

    Thanks a lot

Not worry about your TAX for the moment. Work on your site, promote and start earning. If you start to receive 1000$+ every month you should resolve your tax issues. Take care & Good Luck!

Whats the point of having the webboard here then? ;)

I just wanna know if anybody has exp with it. I asked them a few times but hell believe it or not, they are all different answer. It is like you call bank call centre and always get different info.

$6000 is the tax free threshold that australian citizens with tax file numbers can claim so in this case FISHY cannot claim it. Best thing to do is call the ATO. People may provide experiences and answers but in the end the responsibility is yours.

If your not a permant resident in australia and you start working and recieving money here with out the correct visa, you might get into some trouble from the ATO...

do you have a working visa or just a study visa???

I deffiantly know if you make over $6000/year via online income you have to start paying tax on the money.

Call the ATO but as the answers will get on here will not be 100% correct.
