How important are internal links, and how should you deploy them?

In content and on every page, using the keyphrases that you want a page to rank for.

 

It's also a good idea to create a footer with all your main products & services. That way you'll not only make it easier for visitors to find what they are looking for, but also creates a nice group of links across your entire site.

Internal linking can definitely help punch up your rankings and get you from a page 2 to a page 1 ranking. You have to use strategic anchor text pointed at the page you want to rank. Do it only WHERE IT MAKES SENSE TO THE USERS or it will seem very strange. Internal linking can be a fantastic way to spread link juice around your site if you have some decent incoming links.

On my old website, I added related links in the footer. You could also add a 'breadcrumb trail'.

 

Internal links are very important for the index page, that we practice each party to own at least 5 internal links, time to achieve each page has a PR and reiting.
On the other hand, anchor in the internal links is very practical for SEO in general, to practice whenever we are given the opportunity set internal link in the text with the targeted term to a page.

 

i think he pretty much explained in first line. Getting proper links to subpages. Like a forum must link to each of categories, a blog must to category or archive. Its like branch thing pages to sub to sub-sub .....

Each page shold have 1 link of every secondary keyword to every secondary page. This means each keyword used once.
IE KEYWORD1->Page1 KEYWORD2->PAGE2 KEYWORD3->PAGE3
or
KEYWORD1->Page1 KEYWORD1->PAGE2 KEYWORD1->PAGE3

Basically due to internal linking, the most backlinks you get from your main homepage with the most backlinks will contribute and share page rankings, and boost other articles and posts made within that domain.
