I think its really more than enough, try to limit the internal links especially on your homepage.

I think it is too much, you should either minimize them or make "nofollow" some of them.

You should have keyword-rich links to deeper pages to spread pagerank

Matt Cutts said a few months ago that nofollowing a few links to make more google juice flow through the dofollowed links doesn't work anymore.

edit: "PR sculpting" That's the term I was thinking of.

Nofollowing them is NOT going to help. Nofollow at the link level doesn't work for PR sculpting like it used to. It basically wastes the PR that would have been passed out on the nofollowed link. It no longer increases the amount of PR passed out on the remaining followed links.

IMO you should be selective with what you link to from your home page. Those links are the most powerful links that you control on your own site. Link to the most important pages. The fewer the links, the more "juice" or PR you pass those pages. I would try to keep the total number of links to on your pages to less than 50, even fewer if possible.

Polite answer: Because folks don't understand and don't know better.

There's a better answer to that but it's not polite.

Is this polite enough? How about straight from the horses mouth? http://www.mattcutts.com/blog/pagerank-sculpting/

Pay special attention to the paragraph right before the first question/answer where he says:

The way that nofollow used to work was:

But now you can see that nofollow does NOT cause extra PR to be passed out on the remaining followed links. It is simply wasted.

Generally speaking, now you are better off letting the PR flow to all of your outbound internal links so that the internal pages that you link to can in turn pass it back out to other pages on your site rather than just totally wasting the PR by letting it flow into a PR black hole.

Maybe yes. You need to add good anchor text with keywords and use full urls.

So you have like 41 inner links to your own website. It is better than having external links in the same numbers. But you should try to put quality content along side your inner links. Having that much is ok but you should not try to increase the number, according to me.

Actually I was being polite about talking about wordpress developers. That wasn't directed towards you.
