Every one is talking about how much internal links are important, but not like external. ok. Everyone is saying, that it has to be limited amount of internal links, and using related anchor text. ok. but, here is a big but, Whats happening with Wikipedia. Does anyone knows, how many on average internal links on single page? I would say 100 internal links. Seems, that All pages are re-links between each other. Google loves Wiki. most of the time wiki 1 one on google. so, the questions, is, why can we have more than 3 or even a dozen internal links among all pages between each other? would it really hurt or benefit crawling. thanks
Wikis are user generated content. It is original content. Google loves original content. People love Wikipedia. Why? It's a complete resource for information. People give 10000 backlinks to wikipedia's resource links. That itself is proof of people loving Wikipedia. Another thing, Wikipedia is completely legitimate and there is no blackhat involved. Google is a directory that indexes content on a regular basis. It prefers original content over duplicate content. People love original content. Naturally, people cling to it. People vote for it by linking back to Wikipedia pages. It is constantly updated every minute of the day. New original content is added every day. So it doesn't matter to Wikipedia if it interlinks a 100 times within 1 page/topic.
Wikipedia is a fantastic structure of interlinked pages. Nothing else comes close to interlinked perfection. Google probably has a server that does nothing but crawl Wikpedia all day...
