I have a few questions about internal links and how to use them. I already checked a few topics but i couldn't find where i was looking for.

    1. Will internal linking improve your SERP when you give them the right anchor text?
    2. Can internal linking also damage your page(s) when your using to many?
    3. Which amount of internal links do you guys prefer on each page? (max)
    4. Will more internal linking make it easyer for SE bots to crawl and index more pages?

I hope there is someone who can help me with this or can link a good guide about this.

    1. Will internal linking improve your SERP when you give them the right anchor text? - This kind of link is easy to manipulate so I do not think search engine would give much weight toward this kind of link.

    2. Can internal linking also damage your page(s) when your using to many? - It can be both yes and no. I have seen many websites do cross linked among the content for a hundred of links and haven't got any penalization. However, Google has stated to not having too many links per page in their webmaster guideline, so it could possible for your ranking to dropped if you violated the rules.

    3. Which amount of internal links do you guys prefer on each page? (max) - I would prefer not over 50 but maximum is 100.

    4. Will more internal linking make it easyer for SE bots to crawl and index more pages? - No. Just one link to one page per page is enough.

    Hi, quiz

In my own experiences, having a well-structured internal linking system (navigation system) would be really helpful in increasing link popularity purpose. But it is not the fact that having more internal links would have more benefits for SEO purpose. A nice navigation bar in left or top with bread crumb navigation bar would be enough, IMO.

    all the best,

    1. IMO, yes it can have an affect. It can also affect sitelinks.
    2. Yes.
    3. Depends on the site... If there are more links than content, then...
    4. Not necessarily more links, its how you structure internal links.

I didn't know that internal links can hurt your ranking.

What i have found is if you link to a similiar page or article, search engines will value that link based of relavance. Don't link often in the article unless your running a wiki website.

I am also thinking so much internal link is not bad for the site but should be from different page of the site . If you are trying to take more internal link through the single page then it be harm full for your site. using footer page for gating the in links is not bad idea

    1. Will internal linking improve your SERP when you give them the right anchor text?

Google has always said "What others say about your site is more important than what you say about your own." Which clearly says that your external link anchor texts matter the most. And I agree with SXperm that these links are easy to manage and Google will give very minimal importance to the anchor text.

    2. Can internal linking also damage your page(s) when your using to many?
Yes! Over usage of internal linking can make a page rank poor than what it should actually rank for. Over optimization can be a blow all though it can not be a big one as in Google Penalties.

    3. Which amount of internal links do you guys prefer on each page? (max)
Matt Cutts suggests that not more than 100 links should be on any page of your site. Which is Good. But for a huge sites this is almost impossible. Having too many links can piss a user off. However having links within context and in navigation is always good. Asking a precise number? I'm sorry I am not sure.

    4. Will more internal linking make it easier for SE bots to crawl and index more pages?
The Google bot itself decides whether to index a page or not. Good internal link makes sure PR flows to internal pages which can make deeper level pages get crawled. Remember : PageRank is roughly proportional to the pages a bot crawls. So passing PageRank Juice through internal linking helps your deeper level pages be crawled which indirectly influences number of pages indexed.
