Hello everyone, Looking for some opinions here. One of my sites has just lost about 1,000,000 pages from Google's index. Little more on that in my other thread. I just made little more looking around and found that the actual number of pages lost is much more than what I was talking about in the other thread. Well, anyways, I guess they aren't lost but were moved to supplemental results. This is essentially the same as lost because there isn't any traffic coming into these pages from G anymore. The only thing I can identify so far is maybe "excessive interlinking" filter being tripped by a function of my site whereby articles (it is a forum section of the site) with keywords also found in other articles got those keywords highlighted with a link. The link leads to one of the other articles about the same subject, and the anchor text is just the keyword (key phrase most of the time). There are lots of those interlinks in this huge section of my site, which could be looked at as a keyword stuffed link. So, if that is a no-no, how would you cross-link between pages of your own site? It would be silly not to do any cross-page promotion, but how do you keep it from being "excessive" on a site this large? Any idea or suggestion is greatly appreciated.
Google has been moving a lot of pages they deem as duplicate to supplimental results. I don't know if that could apply to your site.
Yes, I can find the pages in supplemental results. However, I am not too sure though the pages are stripped of PR if something like that happens. Mine lost all PR, and it happened to an entire section of the site, even though some stuff was unique and some stuff was a duplication of content from other pages of the same site. So, I don't know if that really is a duplcation problem.
