I have a landing page which gives a brief description of a channel and then directs users down it with the phrase "Read more about product X >>>". Now spiders don't seem to see the '>>>' if put in like that rather than their code, but if I have 5 or 6 products on the page what is the best way to entice users to read more without writing 'read more'? Suggestions welcome
Often you will just have to trade off between perfect seo anchor text and readability/call to action in your link. I personally think 'read more about product x' is a good balance. You could also have something like: 'click the below link to read more about product x' 'perfect anchor text link'
I've always thought that having nothing but keyword laden anchor text would appear unnatural to the search engines. Of course, that's just speculation on my part, but we all know that Google's algorithm's are pretty sophisticated. So I would leave a few "read more" links in place.
read more about product x, is a great choice...use a rollover effect and make the text standard link blue and underlined
