Interlinking Your Own Websites

I have like 50 or so websites and I never thought about interlinking them. I am sure I read here somewhere that google would penalize, but whats the pros and cons of doing this ?

I would probably scatter a few links between them, but try to keep them one-way. I would avoid linking any two sites to each other.

You may want to make sure they are under different IP's, if you have static IP's. Also, don't bother interlinking them if they are not related. Google will likely discount the unrelated backlinks and, worse, may even penalize you (probably not likely).

If they're in the same niche, then it's fine, but if they're not related, then don't interlink them.

I'd set them as Nofollow to be safe. Otherwise, Google might consider it to be a link farm.

Yep .. This is true and many have been penalized because of the same things
that they did .. Now if you do that you might even be deleted from the index of google as well

That would pretty much defeat the purpose of the interlinking, unless your sites have related traffic and you're ONLY hoping people click on the links.

I see nothing wrong with interlinking your sites as long as they are related and your visitors could find the links beneficial.

Like I said though, you should probably put them on separate static IP's or servers/webhosts.

Agree. You'd better put your sites on different IP's. Interlinking would help only if the links are relevant.

I think it's fine as long as the topics are related.

As ForgottenCreature said, if they are in the same niche won't be a problem, otherwise it depends on what kind of sites you are linking.

I would definatly do it if they have a decent PR. I know from a fact! I have interlinked my pr5 websites on the same ip when i am launching a new website and it gets an auto boost to pr4.

Just make sure to use seperate i.p. addresses and you will be ok, especially if you are only linking 1 way

it depends on where and how you're linking them. for e.g putting them under your blogroll might be a good idea or you could also use something like a random rotating blogroll therefore rotating the links(this is easily achived on Wordpress since you can configure your blogroll listing to list the recently updated blogs at the top part) and so the links would be changed automatically every week or so, so that the crawlers don't flag it as suspicious(finding the same links on each and every sites of yours)

Link them, doesnt matter one bit if they are related or not. I've got around 60 sites on the one server and commonly do this when launching new sites.

Does it help you anyway (seo wise) or do you just do it to boost traffic?
