Interlinking Sites

What's the current accepted wisdom on linking related sites. I own both the sites and I'm planning on linking from A to B (i.e. not reciprocal). Should i be 'no following' my own links? or is it sufficient to write Sponsored by SITE B

    Any thoughts?

I suggest you try to use sponsor or partners!

If both are separate domains, and on the same IP, you will be penalized. If they are sub-domains and related, no problem.

    As you said "related sites"

If they they are related, then you can link between them. Nothing to worry about :)

they are separate domains hosted on different IPs. Obviously as I 'trust' both the domains there is no reason for me to want to 'no follow' the links, having said that I'm not looking to anger the google gods.

angilina - do you still favour the sponsor/partner prefix to the link or would you just pop the link in?

You are fine. Link them together. They are related, you own them, you want to drive users back and forth.

I do this all the time with up to 20 sites interlinking and i have only positive results and have done so far last 2 years.

Ask yourself this (because google does) : do the links you provide give VALUE to the people visiting your site? If YES, then do it!

In my opinion for related sites it's not a problem to interlink them.
However interlinking unrelated sites on the same IP might actually penalize you.

You should avoid using the term "Sponsored" this may get you penalized by google, partners would be more appropriate.

there's no problem with interlinking your sites as long as they are related

Since the sites are related you can interlink them as sponsor or partners link. Good luck

Great thread and very important topic for publishers with multiple, related sites.

While it seems obvious that sites with the same IP would be detected as having a common owner/webmaster, even using dedicated IPs may not be enough since they would have the same class C if they are hosted by the same hosting provider.

Also, it would seem that even if your sites have different IPs, wouldn't G know they are owned by the same person or company if they all have the same Adsense pub. I have not found anything about this in the Webmaster Guidelines but I have a number of related sites that should be interlinked but am hesitant to do so knowing that they all share the same pub.

Love to hear others' thoughts and/or experience on this topic.

My thoughts are that the way a lot of web designers work is that they will offer to host client sites on their on server (or hosting reseller package). they will almost invariably link back from client pages with "web design by XXX". This doesn't seem to cause them any harm. Does anyone have any other thoughts?

Its really recommend that you don't interlink them because you will be penalized
