Interlinking of own sites in the same category

    Hi,

    Is it smart to kick-start a new site in the very same niche, targeting almost the same keyword, with a link from the established (PR6) site to the new one, or might it be too risky?

    - The new site has an older domain
    - Both sites are hosted on different IP's at different hosters
    - Both sites got different WHOIS-info
    - No previous linking

    Based on your description, it will definitely benefits the new site. I don't see any reason why you should not link it.

    Well if they are on different IPs and the site which will be linked to is not penalized I don't see why the search engines would vote against it :) ...unless you have some dupe content in there I wouldn't worry...
