Interlinking 10 blogs/sites to promote one site

Hi,
Suppose I am creating 10 supporting blogs/sites to promote my main site, then how should I interlink them to get the benefits in Search engine ranking.
I have 2 option for this

1. First: I will give link from Each 10 sites to main site ( from blogroll and in articles )
   
2. Second : I will link then like 1-2, 2-3, 3-4, 4-5, 5-6, 6-7, 7-8, 8-9, 9-10 and 10 - main site. ( suppose 1,2,3..10 are name of blogs/sites)

But I am not sure it these are the best way, so expecting your suggestion for the best way to interlink all blog only to rank main site.

Why not second option.. Please explain the differences...

 

First will be the good.Because, second is distributing the traffic to other site.

 

Do the first one, and then interlink them with articles, i.e. link an article of blog A in blog B.

i choose the second one....I think that was best...

 

Interlinking sites that are hosted on the same IP is a bad idea .if you have different ips it would be ok,if not,i won't do it .10 is too much

 

What is the reason behind choosing second option ?
