Is the target="_self" valid xhtml. Should we or should we not use it. I have been told lately that you should not use it so: <a href="page1.html" target="_self">page 1</a> should be: <a href="page1.html">page 1</a> So what is right???
Ok cool, sorry to go off topic but is it ok (or valid xhtml) to use the same value for two different alt attributes on the same page <img src="left.jpg" alt="content" /> <img src="right.jpg" alt="content" /> Is it ok to have the same value for to alts on the same page?
Yes. Not providing meaningful alternative text for images is the most frequent Accessibility error committed by Web Authors - fortunately one that is easily corrected. Appropriate Use of Alternative Text by WebAIM is an excellent reference and guide for complying with this essential Web Content Accessibility requirement. Note that you shouldn't use the same text for different links on the same page -- that is very confusing in screen readers or BRAILLE interpreters (especally JAWS) employed by blind people or those with severely impaired vision. Thank you for your consideration of People with Disabilities: Web Content Accessibility . James
Thanks a million for the links. I have being looking for some good literature on this subject for quite a while now, thanks
