I'm alway keeping an eye on the visits to my 'blog for search terms. Over the past two months, the volume of organic search traffic's been on the increase. Here's one such result that I found really interesting: This is a page one SERP, I'm #4 in the list. As you can see, Google sees the key phrase in the title to my article, but is either ignoring or just not highlighting the word parts in the actual URL. #1 is where it ought to be, since they have the domain name that matches the phrase exactly. Like me, #2 also has the key phrase in their title. But because they're all about music, they rank higher, too. #3 is a little less obvious. None of the phrase word parts are present in either the title, the domain name or the snippet. But again, because this is a music-oriented website, "new music" and "music" will be appearing elsewhere in the website. Your thoughts are welcome!
I've just run that search again sans the quotes and I'm now seventh. This time, Last.fm and MySpace jump in. Interestingly, the word parts are now highlighted in my URL, which tells me that although Google are using "-" and "_" as delimiters, it appears they're not doing so for all search types...
I see it #12 Its because google consider "new and revolution" as single words. you should not use quotes to search.
Looks like a datacenter issue to me. I landed some Sitelinks recently and they're not showing up everywhere yet...
